Vocal coaching for East Nashville songwriters, indie artists, and touring musicians. Real industry experience. Real artistry. Real results.
Schedule Your Introductory CallEast Nashville isn't just a neighborhood. It's the creative engine of this city. The songwriters pulling late nights at The 5 Spot. The Americana bands filling The Basement East. The touring artists recording between runs. The indie vocalists tracking at their buddy's home studio in Lockeland Springs.
You don't need a voice teacher who's going to try to shape you into a Top 40 radio template. You need a coach who understands what you're actually doing, and who can help you do it with technique that holds up across tours, late nights, and the long game of a real music career.
That's what The Vocal Academy was built for.
Our founder Hannah Anders has spent 25 years as a professional touring artist, headlining international tours and major festival stages. Our coaches are active working musicians who understand the East Nashville scene from the inside. We coach you to protect your voice, develop your artistry, and keep showing up night after night. Whether you're writing at a kitchen table on Holly Street or stepping onto a stage at the Ryman, your voice deserves coaching that respects where you're actually going.
East Nashville artists at every stage of the grind.
East Nashville is the writers' round capital of Nashville. Whether you're working a regular slot at The 5 Spot, grinding through open mics at Dee's Lounge, or building toward your first record, we coach you to deliver your own songs with vocal freedom and technical strength. Your voice is your instrument. We help you play it like you mean it.
East Nashville is full of working artists living between tour legs, studio sessions, and one more run through the set. We coach touring artists on vocal maintenance, recovery, and technique built to protect your voice across decades of professional work. Online lessons travel with you when you're on the road.
Americana, indie rock, folk, country, and roots music are all in our genre wheelhouse. Our founder is a career Americana and country touring artist. We coach you to sound authentically like yourself while building technique that makes every song stronger. No cookie-cutter approach. Your sound is the point.
Session singers, backing vocalists, and working musicians who need consistent, take-after-take reliability in the studio. We coach on pitch precision, tone control, stylistic versatility, and the vocal stamina to track for hours without losing the edge. Our coaches have done the work themselves.
Our coaches teach from south of downtown, with online lessons for artists who travel or prefer to train from home.
Our coaches teach from professional home studios in the Nippers Corner area, just south of downtown. An easy cross-town drive from East Nashville neighborhoods like Lockeland Springs, Cleveland Park, Inglewood, and East End.
Touring artists, busy parents, and anyone who'd rather skip the drive. Our online lessons deliver the same coaching and full community access from anywhere.
Our coaches aren't just teachers. They're credentialed, working musicians who've toured, recorded, and performed at a career level.
We help you deliver your own material with authenticity. Your songs, your voice, your sound. Never a template.
Every membership includes seminars, masterclasses, writers' rounds, priority showcase access, and our online training library.
Online lessons travel with you. Maintain consistency between tour legs, studio sessions, and your home schedule.
Late nights, long sets, smoky rooms. We coach technique that protects your voice for the long career, not just the next gig.

Yes. Americana, country, and roots music are among our specialties. Our founder Hannah Anders is a career country and Americana touring artist who has performed at CMA Fest, SummerFest, Country Thunder, and West Coast Country Fest. She coaches from that experience.
Not at all. Our Tier 1 Coach track is designed for singers who are newer to formal training, returning after time away, or looking to solidify foundational technique. There's no "too beginner" for us, but we do expect students who are serious about their growth.
